OSAEC Awareness -MEANS Response

A New MEANS initiative…God is on the move!

The year 2023 was a significant year for MEANS.  After watching the blockbuster movie, “Sound of Freedom,” the Lord has stirred our hearts to do something to prevent sex trafficking of Filipino children.   What a great opportunity to combined teaching literacy to children with teaching awareness to children about the dangers of one of the most prevalent crime committed against children:  sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

On October 8, 2023, MEANS with other NGOs, held its first Online Sexual Prevention and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) Workshop at Samaritana Transformation Ministries Meeting Hall with MEANS ministry partners in Greater Manila participating.   The success of the workshop prompted us to hold another workshop in Bacolod City where MEAN has READ TO GROW literacy projects  in 10 under resourced communities in Negros Occidental.  It will be a very strategic move since we hold RTG classes  every week.  A total of about 500 children are coming to these classes every week.

What is OSAEC? Anti-Online Sexual Abuse on Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) is designed to protect Filipino children against physical and online sexual abuse and exploitation.  We have decided to help in making our RTG ministry partners aware of OSAEC. The latest law passed by the Philippine government in May 2023 is RA 11930to protect the children from cybersex crimes, RA 11930 considers Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) a grave crime.

MEANS Response: Bacolod City OSAEC Workshop  –  The Lord has placed in our hearts to bring this workshop to the place where we have many ministry partners.  So, in response to His promptings plans are underway to make this happen.
